    August 28, 2019

    |

    Amy Zucchero

Growing up I was never a fan of tuna salad.  My moms version had a lot of mayo in it, so as I looked for healthier options, I came across this version with avocados, and added some of my own ingredients for the perfect tuna avocado salad.  Packed with good healthy fats, this salad keeps me full, and works as a great lunch or even snack.  Enjoy!

    Ingredients:

    • 3 Ripe avocados, diced

    • 1/4 cup diced red onion

    • 1/2 cup diced cucumber

    • 2 cans albacore tuna, packed in olive oil

We are an on-the-go family.  Get out of bed early, shower, get dressed, and my husband and I are out the door, getting the kids to school and heading to work.  Sound familiar? It's so easy to miss out on a good breakfast, but you can plan ahead. These lightened up blueberry muffins are the perfect start to my day with a cup of coffee (or any time of day)!  Blueberries are not only high in antioxidants, but are anti-inflammatory, and can also protect against various forms of cancer. By using gluten-free oats and flour, and sugar substitutes like applesauce and coconut sugar to sweeten, you'll never feel guilty about eating them.

    Makes 12 muffins

    Ingredients:

    • 1 1/2 cups of gluten free oats

For several months, I was dealing with a lot of skin inflammation, especially in my face, so I was looking for ways beyond what I ate to clean up toxins from my body....enter Betonite Clay!

What I love about it is that this clay has a unique mixture and can absorb “negatively charged” toxins. People have been using calcium bentonite clay for centuries as a way to detoxify the body, improve digestion, improve skin tone, and more.

Everyday we are exposed to environmental toxins such as pestici...

I began leisure reading in my late 20's.  Growing up, and having to read in school, it seemed more like a chore.  Then when one of my previous jobs had me taking the train to work every day, I saw all these people reading books and thought that might be a good idea to pass the time.  I started with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  I wanted to see what all the hype was about, and wow, after that book, I never looked back and became an avid reader.

A study from the University of Su...

We spend a lot of money buying household cleaning ingredients when we really only need two main items.  Vinegar and baking soda.  They can be used in a variety of ways

    Healthy Hand Sanitizers and Soaps

    August 8, 2018

    Amy Zucchero

It's important to remember that anything we put on our skin gets absorbed into the bloodstream.  This includes soaps and hand sanitizers which is what I want to discuss here.  Of course, we need to wash and clean our hands regularly to keep the germs away, but do you consider any of the ingredients found in many of the soaps and sanitizers out there?  So many of them are filled with chemicals, that we really aren't cleansing ourselves as much as we think.

Here are a few toxic ingredients oft...

    June 28, 2018

    Amy Zucchero

I love sitting outside on my patio on a perfect summer night.  Then, the sun goes down and the mosquitoes come out, thus cutting my night in the outdoors short.  No more!  This recipe for homemade bug spray has certainly kept the bugs away, and its much better on your skin than toxic chemical based bug sprays on the market today.  Bugs repel the scents of lavender and lemongrass, among a few others, so feel free to buy the plants and scatter them around the outside of your home.  Otherwise, spritz t...
