One night as I was jotting down some positive notes in my gratitude journal, it hit me that I was really following my passion to become a health coach. It just popped into my brain and struck me that many of my dreams were becoming a reality and it put a huge smile on my face.It was Earth Day - April 22, 2016.
I never considered Earth Day a big deal or thought it had much meaning for me. In fact, I felt it was just like any other day and I never took the time to celebrate it. But this year was a bit different. Over the past year, I really started appreciating nature and all it provides us.
My education in health and wellness has shifted my mind, and I’ve become more in tune with myself as well as stop to look around at trees, blue skies, lakes and rivers and embrace all this abundance we have.
When I look back at my life more than 10 years ago, I focused too much on the things I didn’t have in my life (job I hated, no boyfriend/husband, etc.) It wasn’t getting me anywhere so I realized I needed to turn things around and think more positively. I focused on what made me feel better and exercising was one of them. I decided to hire a personal trainer and I also started practicing yoga to put me in a better mental state. While that helped, I knew that was only a part of it, I needed to work on my nutrition, too. I was always eating heavy processed foods filled with high levels of fat, sugar and sodium. I was never overweight, but after reading more and more articles about how food plays a role in your emotions, I knew I needed to change my diet. I started cooking more at home, adding more proteins, vegetables, herbs and the right nutrients, and now healthy eating and exercising regularly are a part of my daily routine.
Not only did I tone up, and really started to appreciate the body I have, but also started having more energy and a positive outlook on life. I focused on being grateful for the things I do have and how good I felt every day. That’s around the time when I started a Gratitude Journal to write down things that made me happy each day and appreciate what I had already which was a strong family presence, an amazing group of friends, and of course, my health. That seemed to stem a whole new chapter in my life, as a few years later I met my now husband, have two beautiful step children and I know exactly what I want in my career.
I’ve been in Corporate Marketing for more than 15 years, and no doubt I have learned a lot. Most of all its taught me that I’m not meant to sit behind a desk all day. I would go from job to job and it never gave me much recognition or satisfaction. In order to obtain that, I needed to go after something I was really passionate about and turn that into a career.
When I realized how much I loved wellness, I decided to train and become a fitness instructor. I expand that and also added the nutritional aspect, so I pursued a certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and that started my journey as a health coach. I want to be able to share with others how to support their mind, body and spirit and truly live a healthy lifestyle.
I take a holistic approach and educate on how healthy eating, exercise, better sleep and cutting out sugar can help lower stress levels, give you more energy and help lose weight. I work with the IN.FORM program that is clinically proven to reduce body weight, fat, cholesterol and blood pressure while increasing energy, and improving sleep. It's about establishing habits of health for the rest of your life.
I’m on the journey to better health and I’ve love to help you start on your own path to living healthy. I look forward to working with you!
