I recently attended a session on Mastering Moods and Emotions. Some of the top health concerns people face today are their emotions, stress and lack of sleep.
Countless studies done by hospitals/clinics/universities around the globe show that 85% of physical problems have an emotional component. Stress can wear you down, leave you anxious, increase blood pressure, raise cortisol levels and "wreak havoc" on the gut!
We must get this under control.
First, you must start with nutrition to calm. Eating a balanced diet with protein, good fats and good carbs is crucial.
Next is a good night's sleep. A National Health Interview (NIH) Survey reported 1.6 million adults use complimentary and alternative medicine to treat insomnia. The NIH reports 60 million adults in the U.S. struggle with insomnia. If you routinely fall asleep within 5 minutes of lying down, you probably have severe sleep deprivation.
Sleep is necessary for health.
If you are in need of better sleep, Vitamin B's provide the body with healthy functioning of the nervous system. It helps reduce effects of stress on the body. B Vitamins are water soluable and can get easily lost in processing and cooking. Their affects are reduced by alcohol and some prescription medications. The body doesn't really store B vitamins so we need to replenish.
In addition, a deficiency of a certain vitamins, including B vitamins, has been linked with mood disorders.
A B-complex supplementation (such as Methyl Vitamin B12 complex vitamins from Nature's Sunshine) are recommended to truly get your mind and body back into balance. Make sure you start taking it daily if you are not already.
